What is the point in self-excluding at a specific casino if one can simply register and play at another?

Perhaps a central register would help?

To a degree, I believe it is quite effective. If you can ask to be barred for life from any certain casino then you can't go back and lose money again there. OK, 5 minutes later you open another casino account and lose there too, then self-exclude for life from that one as well and so on. Sooner or later you will find yourself barred from literally every casino on the internet. - Then I'd say, yes indeed, it is pretty effective.

What I find ineffective in exchange, it is the cooling off periods like limited time self-exclusion periods such as 1 day, 1 week, one month etc.

There are thousands of online casinos so it would take some time to self-exclude from them all.
I think it would be more efficient if the casinos subscribed to a central self-exclusion register at which players can request to be excluded on terms they require, especially the length of the exclusion.

This central register could be funded by the constituent casinos.

I'm not sure I'd like the idea of a Central Register, because it would mean that casinos should share player details between each others?

I know this already happens to a degree, but I am very much against this idea. If I am confident enough to trust and send my documents to 32Red, I want these details remain with 32Red and not be shared with 7Sultans, Nostalgia Casino, Casino Tropez or Slots Inferno etc?
