I have long wondered and debated as to whether Poker is really a sport or not. I have always leaned toward no because Poker in fact is not athletic.
However, mentally and skill wise I think its right up there with chess and bridge. So turns out the other day I came across this amazing article about how an organization called the International Association of Mental Sports (IAMS) would like to have the International Poker Federation become a member in the near future.
This is a huge deal for Poker, because this would make it nearly impossible for the Olympic Committee to not list Poker as a game of skill.
I’m so happy that the rest of the world is coming around to understand what I have known for a long time!
