Hey Followers,

Today we got some news from Gambling Grumbles. It is a story that tends to repeat with many casinos every now and then: players accessing their casino account from an IP used by someone else on some other occasion.

As Steve, correctly points out, that naturally can happen if you try to access you account from crowded places like: internet cafes, hotels, airports, or any public location with free wi-fi such as a bar etc.

George V. of Greece, although registered from home, he accessed his casino account from his work office. It seems that somebody else did the same thing and as that was a shared IP, he got accused of multi-accounting and got his account balance, in the amount of €1,841 confiscated (€2,036 euros being his total deposits!).

You can read the full report by clicking this link, but that is pretty much all the story.

However, I would add that to be safe and 100% avoid such situations, a player should only access his account from his home IP and make sure that his home IP is not a dynamic one (make sure to ask your ISP to provide you with a static IP) !

Keep it Safe,
Constantin

Hi Constantin, I have a quick question about this... since many casinos are now available on cell phones and tablets, just so you can play from anywhere, how do the casinos handle that. I would think that many of those personal devices are accessing the internet through public WiFi. Seems to me that playing only at home kind of defeats the purpose of MOBILE casino technology.

Hi Katt,

I guess mobile devices doesn't necessarily need to access the internet via some public WiFi. I think anyone can have her/his own private IP via a phone network provider (such as Orange, Vodafone, Telekom etc) so access to internet will be available as long as there is signal on the phone/tablet, even though there is no nearby public WiFi available. That would be recommended not only for accessing online casinos.

But your point is very valid: the casinos seem to try and get an unfair advantage out of this whole situation because many access their casino accounts via public WiFi ! At least the casinos should be a bit fairer and clearly put in their casino Terms & Conditions that accessing the casino via public WiFi (and institutions / workplaces) and / or dynamic IP is not allowed !!! -- They would still catch a couple people ... !

Keep it Safe,
Constantin

Hi Followers,

Good updated news for this report: the casino re-evaluated their findings, did a call to the player and changed its mind.
As a result, player's account has been reinstated and the player is free to cash out his money €1,841 (or play if so he wish).

Keep it Safe,
Constantin
