What are the stakes to be considered a low roller, a medium roller and respectively a high roller in a casino?
(but how about the same question in regards to sport bets? and poker? or backgammon? – I think bet levels differs)

I'd like to hear as many people as possible from our great community: what's your bets overall and where you feel you'd fit?

Hi Constantin
I think it depends on the individual player's own experiences and his bankroll.

I always considered myself a High Roller until I visited the Salon Privee at the Bellagio. The gigantic bets being placed made me realize how small a bettor I really was.

At least the casino considered my play level sufficiently high to comp my room.

Hi Constantin,

I can give you an answer from an online casino's perspective. So this is what we use as setting a label on a player regarding his status.

In Poker it's the simplest thing as the limits and filters in user interface are already set to low, medium and high and these are mostly industry standards.

So a player playing poker on limits:

PLAYER 1: NL4 - NL50 is considered a low stakes players;
PLAYER 2: NL50 - NL600 is a medium stakes player
PLAYER 3: NL1000 + is a high roller

Now if you take into account that each player that plays poker has to have a certain bankroll to be able to play the desired limit you can say that the bankroll is actually what defines your VIP status and not the stakes you play.

Poker players need at least 30 Buy-ins to give themselves a chance to win over variance.

Bankroll for playing poker:

PLAYER 1: 120$ - 1500$ low stakes player
PLAYER 2: 1500$ - 18000$ medium stakes player
PLAYER 3: 30.000$ + high roller

That said, for any other game I think it would be the same.

br,

Vedran
